I took the opportunity to take the family on a day trip with Peel 4wd Club down to Hoffman’s Mill, WA. Hoffman’s Mill is located around 2hrs south of Perth. It’s now a BBQ / Picnic / camping area but some 50-60 years ago it was a small Woodmill and town, complete with a Post Offic and General Store. There’s almost no trace of that now. You don’t need a 4wd to get to the camp site.
The trip was more of an explore than a traditional 4wd trip. Only a couple of times did I need to go into low range and that was to go around fallen trees that were blocking the track. There were plenty of those, most still the remnants of a bushfire from a couple of years ago.
Still, a day off-road is better than a sharp stick in the eye.
Great day out!
